Tasting Notes

This Premier Cru opens with a complex bouquet of white flowers, citrus zest and crushed stone. On the palate, it reveals layers of green apple, pear and hazelnut, supported by a vibrant mineral backbone that speaks of the unique limestone terroir of Puligny. The texture is creamy yet precise, with a saline finish that lingers beautifully. A masterclass in Burgundian Chardonnay.

The Vintage

2020 was an exceptional vintage in Burgundy, characterised by an early, warm growing season that produced wines of remarkable concentration and freshness. Careful vineyard management at Domaine Leflaive ensured perfect balance between ripeness and acidity, resulting in wines with both immediate appeal and excellent ageing potential.

The Domaine

Domaine Leflaive is one of the most revered estates in Burgundy, with holdings in some of Puligny-Montrachet's finest vineyards including Clavoillon, Pucelles and the Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet. Under Anne-Claude Leflaive's visionary leadership, the domaine pioneered biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy from 1997, a practice that has since been widely adopted across the region.

Cellaring Advice

This wine is drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve through 2045. The biodynamic viticulture lends a particular energy and longevity. Serve at 12 to 14 degrees in a large-bowled glass to allow the complex aromatics to develop. No decanting necessary for white Burgundy.
